It has been a cherished tradition for years that the Hungarian State Opera dedicates an evening to Miklós Ybl, the architect of the magnificent Opera House (and numerous other buildings in Hungary). This time, alongside commemorating the architect who was born 212 years ago, the timing makes it fitting to honour our national holiday with a worthy program as well. On the eve of 15 March, the aria evening My Homeland, My Homeland, You Are My Everything will take place, featuring outstanding singers and even notable members of the Opera Studio, accompanied on piano by István Dénes, who is always known for his virtuosity, wit, and meticulous precision.

Iván Fischer was requested by the Berlin Konzerthaus to compose an opera for children based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s world-famous picture book, The Gruffalo. The humorous opera now premieres in Hungary in translation by Ádám Nádasdy. The production is recommended for children between the ages of 3 and 10.
