Szigligeti Alkotóház, 1953. Rákosi elvtárs nagyon helyesen úgy határoz, hogy kedvenc költőjét, Sass Tibort felterjeszti Moszkvába Sztálin-díjra. Személyesen intézkedik, hogy ehhez nemzetközi támogatást kapjon: a költővel egy idelátogató olasz riporter készít interjút. Ezen a napon mindennek hiba nélkül, terv szerint kell mennie. Csakhogy ellopták a kapucsengőt, rossz helyre kézbesítették a besúgó-jelentést, az államvédelmi kísérő elkallódott útközben, és Sass Tibor halott.
