When a season is centred around three composer geniuses like the eponyms of the BMW season, every possible approach must be taken to showcase their magnificent legacies. The most fundamental way is to stage the operas of Beethoven, Mozart, and Wagner. However, there are many performers who do not have roles in the works of these three masters but would gladly sing from their vast vocal repertoire. The BMW Afternoons are dedicated to them, for them, and by them. In selected performances throughout the season, Hungarian singers will present a selection of songs and arias by Wagner, Beethoven, and Mozart, with piano accompaniment. This aria series should also include an event dedicated to Hungarian opera arias. A performance that is Hungarian in every essence – yet of international calibre.
