Levendula királylány eltűnt a tihanyi várból. Az egész udvar a keresésére indul, de nem lelik sehol. A Kecskepásztor legény fülébe kedves madarától, a beszélő szajkótól jut el hír. Nosza hát, égen, földön, föld alatt, de még a vízben is keresni kezdi, keresteti a királylányt. Jön is a hírrel a békakirály fia:
- Sió, a Balaton tündére rabolta el, ott őrzi most vízalatti palotájában! Szerencsés véletlen és némi varázslat segítségével ott terem, és ezzel kezdetét veszi a szabadítás és a menekülés - amibe még a tihanyi visszhang is beleszól.
