György Orbán: Serenade
László Dubrovay: Piano Concerto No. 2 (Concerto romantico)
Levente Gyöngyösi: God Image
Featuring: János Balázs – piano, Angelica Girls’ Choir (choirmaster: Zsuzsanna Gráf), Men’s Chorus of the National Choir (choirmaster: Csaba Somos)
Most trends in 20th-century modernist music were openly hostile to the aesthetic of 19th-century Romanticism, and reconquered for themselves the music of older eras, that of the Baroque period or the Middle Ages. Yet Romanticism was rehabilitated during the decades of postmodernism, bringing revolutionary pathos (Levente Gyöngyösi), irony and nostalgia (György Orbán), and transcendent virtuosity (László Dubrovay) back into vogue with composers.
Our offer
Richard Strauss: Don Juan, Op. 20 Samuel Barber: Violin Concerto, Op. 14 Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 in D minor, Op. 47
Songs from the World (traditional songs and song arrangements by Zoltán Kodály Max Knigge, Naomi Shemer, Françoise Leleu, Michael Neaum and Arvo Pärt) Gustav Mahler: Symphony No. 1 in D major “Titan”
Tilting at windmills; a tempestuous love story; a tasteful collage; virtuosic minimalism; an eccentric job search; emotional turmoil and a Venetian musketeer – all wrapped in Baroque music.
Suggestions
Camille Saint-Saëns: Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33 Anton Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 in E major, WAB…
