Editor: Tibor Keresztury

Captivating audiences in all formations, Veronika Harcsa has inexhaustible creative energies to match her magical voice. Repeatedly throughout her steeply rising career, she has come up with something new and unexpected, something that would enrich her musical world and would throw a new light on her former efforts. It is now the oeuvre of the great avant-garde poet, Lajos Kassák that has inspired her to create something entirely unprecedented.

The production owes its appeal to the productive tension between Kassák’s free-flowing, rustic poems and prose, and the petite singer’s soft, highly trained voice—to the simultaneously instinctive, intuitive, intellectual and interpretative attitude with which Veronika Harcsa approaches the poet. This is more than a collection of poems set to music: what we are very happy to witness is the birth of a new interpretation of Kassák, Veronika Harcsa’s very own.

Our offer

Iván Fischer was requested by the Berlin Konzerthaus to compose an opera for children based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s world-famous picture book, The Gruffalo. The humorous opera now premieres in Hungary in translation by Ádám Nádasdy. The production is recommended for children between the ages of 3 and 10.

For almost a quarter of a century, the Festival Orchestra’s program series for children has brought a high-quality classical musical experience to the youngest. The orchestra’s rehearsal room not only serves experimenting with the tiniest details of the symphonic pieces to be performed or playing chamber music, but also as the venue for educating the next generation of classical music lovers.
