Ferenc "Fegya” Jávori founded the Budapest Klezma Band more than 30 years ago. The group performs Fegya's compositions and arrangements and has helped to popularise the traditional Jewish music of Central and Eastern Europe. This show will take the audience on a genuine musical journey.

The Budapest Klezmer Band is well-known and popular group, both in Hungary and further afield. In addition to their countless concerts, they have also performed in unique coproductions like Pannon Dalok (Pannon Songs), with Andrea Rost, and Purim, avagy a Sorsvetés (Purim - The Sortilege) with the Ballet Company of Győr. In addition to numerous theatre performances and concerts, Fegya can also boast two of his own musicals, the Menyasszonytánc (The Bride's Dance), performed at the Budapest Operetta Theatre, and the Farmerkirály (The King of the Jeans), which premiered at the Fertőrákos Quarry and Cave Theatre. The group have developed a tradition of holding a New Year's concert in Budapest. The event is hotly anticipated by their fans and Müpa Budapest is delighted to host this year's event. The concert will also give us a chance to encounter a new side of the band, with the performances of two special guests, Piroska Molnár and István Mikó - it promises to be an unforgettable evening.
