For Gabriel, the most exciting pieces of the musical theater are those that became jazz standards and evergreens of popular music. Classic vaudeville shows were easy revue musicals. The deep content wasn’t a requirement, the emphasis was on entertainment, jazz (as the popular dance music of the time), good singers, musicians and dancers. It’s not by mistake that George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Duke Ellington became widely known with musicals.
Broadway Night is a combined musical & jazz concert where excellent jazz musicians play original Broadway arrangements, as well as jazz versions of popular songs in breathtaking sync.
The concert features the greatest tunes of two successful Orfeum theater performances, entitled Liza & Me and Night & Day, as well as a bunch of classic jazz songs we weren’t aware had originally been written as parts of stage plays.
This way, we all can re-discover them for ourselves. And what could rarely happen in a theater: to grab our partner for a dance after having a cool drink or two…

The orchestra’s rehearsal room not only serves experimenting with the tiniest details of the symphonic pieces to be performed or playing chamber music, but also as the venue for educating the next generation of classical music lovers.
