Eszter Bíró: North is Before Me! - A musical journey in the kingdom of time and sound / MINI MATINÉE

Eszter Bíró: North is Before Me! - A musical journey in the kingdom of time and sound / MINI MATINÉE

Where does the compass point when the imagination is in control? Eszter Bíró’s latest show invites the whole family on a playful expedition: with songs and stories, we traverse continents and eras to discover the power that lies in curiosity and singing together. During the concert, the children’s clapping will find the rhythm, and their voices the melody while parents gather some new ideas for ways to weave music into everyday learning.

The multi-faceted band (percussion, guitar, wind instruments and, of course, Eszter Bíró’s voice) will weave a tapestry of sound right before our eyes – at times providing pulsating accompaniment, at others the atmosphere of film music – while Tóbiás, the Easter bunny will also come out of hiding. The songs invite shared reflection on friendship, courage and freedom, all the while sharpening listening, rhythm and vocabulary skills – sometimes with group dancing, sometimes with “puddle-jumping” in unison.

For almost a quarter of a century, the Festival Orchestra’s program series for children has brought a high-quality classical musical experience to the youngest. The orchestra’s rehearsal room not only serves experimenting with the tiniest details of the symphonic pieces to be performed or playing chamber music, but also as the venue for educating the next generation of classical music lovers.
