Bár csaknem mindenki emlékezetében ott él egy-egy Arany-idézet és ismeri a költő útjának főbb állomásait, az életmű gazdagságának köszönhetően olyan árnyalt portré is rajzolható, mely az újdonság erejével hathat. Erre a lehetőségre alapozta rendezői koncepcióját Rák Zoltán, akinek szülővárosa, Nagyszalonta, ahol 208 évvel ezelőtt napvilágot látott a máig ünnepelt költő is: Arany János. Hogyan telhettek a költő siheder évei? Mit tudott a szerelemről? Mit jelentett számára a kor ,,rock sztárjával”, Petőfi Sándorral ápolt barátsága? Miként élte meg a forradalom- és szabadságharc éveit, a házasságot, az öregedést? A gyakran élő zenével kísért, dramatizált előadás Arany Jánosa nem csupán a magyar nyelv utolérhetetlen szókincstárnoka, de a kor kiváló ,,humoristája” is.

For almost a quarter of a century, the Festival Orchestra’s program series for children has brought a high-quality classical musical experience to the youngest. The orchestra’s rehearsal room not only serves experimenting with the tiniest details of the symphonic pieces to be performed or playing chamber music, but also as the venue for educating the next generation of classical music lovers.
Iván Fischer was requested by the Berlin Konzerthaus to compose an opera for children based on Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s world-famous picture book, The Gruffalo. The humorous opera now premieres in Hungary in translation by Ádám Nádasdy. The production is recommended for children between the ages of 3 and 10.
