In this Goldoni comedy, rich in twists and turns and comic conflicts, the helpless Florindo falls in love with Rosaura, one of Doctor Balanzoni's daughters, who is unaware of it, while another young man, the noble Ottavio, falls in love with Rosaura's sister Beatrice, but she has to wait for her sister's wedding. And so it is that, in the sultry Venetian night, after Florindo's secret serenade, a foreign traveller, Lelio, takes the credit and twists both girls' heads with his witty lies. Except that the nature of a lie is that a hundreds of it are born at once. And the liar ends up not being believed anymore when telling the truth.
